Open Data Kit (ODK)

More and more organizations are embracing the use of mobile devices for efficient data collection in the field. Open Data Kit (ODK) is a suite of tools designed to facilitate data collection using Android mobile devices, even in the absence of an Internet connection or mobile carrier service.

With ODK Collect, the data collection process is streamlined by replacing traditional paper forms with electronic forms. These forms support various data types such as text, numeric entries, GPS coordinates, photos, videos, barcodes, and audio uploads to an online server.

Google’s powerful hosting platform, AppEngine, enables you to host your data online. Additionally, ODK Aggregate allows you to manage your data effectively, while Google Fusion Tables and Google Earth provide options to visualize your data as maps.

Open Data Kit is an open-source project developed by the University of Washington’s Computer Science and Engineering department and supported by Change. It is accessible to all, empowering organizations with efficient and customizable data collection solutions.
